AYURVEDA

The ancient Indian practice of Ayurveda, the 'science of life', goes back 5,000 years and involves how foods, herbs, emotions, climate and lifestyle impact the dynamics of our own physiology and psychology.

Ayurveda treats on a holistic level. Ayurveda goes by the principle that disease is caused by bioenergy imbalances between the three 'humours' of 'Tridoshas' of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. We rebalance these humours through natural remedies and changes in diet. The three 'Gunas' (forces) that form nature and also influence the human body – Satwa, Raja and Tama, represent the three forces of modern physics: nuclear, electro and gravitational force.

Ayurveda has a rich tradition of specialised detoxifying therapies – such as steam therapy, oil massage, and Panchakarma therapy – and special rejuvenation treatments for body and mind which stimulate immunity and slow down degeneration. Ayurveda also offers a variety of herbal and pharmaceutical preparations – decoctions, oils and powders for both internal and external use, ghee, jams and jellies.

TREATMENTS

Abhyanga

Abhyanga is a whole-body massage with specific herbal oils to nourish and revitalise the body tissues and remove toxins from the cells. Performed symmetrically by therapists for one hour, Abhyanga has deep-healing effects by naturally harmonising body, mind and spirit, and is usually followed by a medicated steam bath. Abhyangam rejuvenates the whole body – increasing tissue strength, improving blood circulation, removing cellulite, delaying ageing, inducing sound sleep, promoting vitality, pacifying Vata imbalance, reducing stress and removing toxins. Ayurvedic massage offers lasting relief from chronic aches and pains such as backache, joint/rheumatic pain and migraine.

Four Hand Synchronized Abhyanga

The synchronized four hand Abhyanga massage is an ancient Ayurveda treatment, reaching back more than 2,000 years in Indian history. A four-hand massage  is a unique massage modality that has two massage therapists working on one body; they mirror each other's movements to create one fluid motion.
A smooth and rhythmic experience, the synchronized Abhyanga massage uses warm herbal oils designed to improve circulation, remove toxins, calm the nervous system, and enhance immunity. This also helps to create twice as many efficient results in terms of relaxation and the balancing of the systems governing the functioning of both the body and mind.

Four Hand Udwartanam Slimming Program

Udwartanam or Herbal Powder massage is a special therapeutic massage in which herbal powders are used to massage the body against the direction of the hair follicles with increased  pressure. Udwartanam is aimed at weight loss and loss of excess Kapha Dosha in the body and is helpful in reducing cholesterol levels, improving muscle tone, deeply exfoliating the skin and also giving mobility to the joints. The herbal powders used in Udvartana are drying in nature and therefore have a drying effect on Kapha, which is heavy and moist in nature. Two therapists work simultaneously on both sides of the body performing the strokes in the opposite direction to hair growth, i.e. in an upward direction. This further breaks down Kapha and adipose tissue, whilst also boosting circulation and the removal of toxins from the body.

Ayurveda Facial Treatment

In Ayurveda, beauty is defined by the term €œsubhanga karanam € or €œthe complete transformation of body and mind €.  read more »

Remedies used in Ayurvedic beauty treatments offer much more than just a cosmetic treatment but act in protecting your skin, hair and complexion from the damaging effects of the internal and external environment.
According to Ayurvedic principles, a person's skin is classified into one of three types: Vata, Pitta or Kapha.
The Vata skin type is characterized by being extremely dry, thin delicate and cool to touch. It is extremely vulnerable to weather conditions, especially dry windy weather conditions and is easily dehydrated. Vata skin may age faster and tends to be dry rough and flaky when out of balance.
People with Pitta skin type have fair sensitive, soft warm skin of medium thickness. It is also more susceptible to freckles and moles. When out of balance, the Pitta skin type will usually erupt with acne breakouts & rashes.
The Kapha skin type is oily, thick, pale, soft, cool & more tolerant of the sun. It tends to age slower and form less wrinkles than the other two types. When this skin type is out of balance it usually leads to problems such as dull complexion, enlarged pores, black heads, pimples, eczema & water retention.

Cleansing Facial

  • For Dry Skin
Dry, chapped & wrinkled skin is due to Vata imbalance. For these conditions we recommend to do Vata-balancing facial.
  • For Acne prone skin
Acne, pimples, rashes are due to Pitta imbalance. A Pitta balancing cleansing ayurvedic facial is perfect for these problems.
  • For excessive oilness
For those who are excessive oil we recommend a Kapha balancing facial.

Rejuvenating Facial

Skin showing signs of stress, fatigue, redness, chapped, premature wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes are due to the imbalance of highly aggravated Vata energy. The skin needs to repair & rejuvenate after the toxins flush with the cleansing. The substances used during this facial for cleansing, massaging & moisturizing greatly enhance rejuvenation of the skin.

The Ayurvedic facial is not your standard facial. Our one-hour-long Ayurvedic facial is a deeply relaxing, soothing and transformational experience.

Elakkizhi

Elakkizhi is a highly rejuvenating treatment applied after Abhyanga, in which fresh plants are fried with several other herbal ingredients, tied into boluses,  dipped into warm medicated oil and simultaneously massaged by therapists all over the body for one hour. Nasyam Karma also enhances the sense organs.

Netratarpana relieves the strain of constant  computer and TV screen glare, refractive errors of the eyes, chronic conjunctivitis, dry eye syndrome, glaucoma and eye diseases brought on by Vata and Pitta toxins. Netratarpana also helps in preventing early formation of cataracts, eye pain/burning sensations and loss of eyeball movement.

Udwartanam

Udwartanam or Herbal Powder massage is a special therapeutic massage in which herbal powders, like Udwartanam, are used to massage the body against the direction of the hair follicles with increased pressure.  The treatment is good for diseases such as diabetic neuropathy, paralysis, obesity, cellulite, sciatica, indigestion and sclerosis of blood vessels. The massage activates the nerves and increases blood flow to the impaired parts of the body. Udwarthanam is also an important health preserving massage. As the massage promotes active blood flow, it revitalizes and reconditions the body, thus preserving its strength, skin texture and natural elasticity. Fat reduction is one of the significant benefits in cases of obesity.
